Labor Superintendent Visits Protest Site, Plans Legal Action Against Company Management

Workers of RD Rubber Company persisted in their indefinite strike for the second consecutive day, halting production once again on Tuesday.

GAMHARIA – The indefinite strike by workers of RD Rubber Company in the industrial area continued for a second day, bringing production to a standstill on Tuesday.

Despite the intense heat, the workers remained committed to their protest outside the company premises.

Labor Superintendent Avinash Thakur visited the protest site to assess the situation and gather details.

He spoke with permanent, temporary, and contract workers to understand their grievances.

The workers raised several issues, including unpaid minimum wages, authoritarian management practices, delayed salaries and benefits, and lack of settlements for retired employees.

They demanded immediate action to address these concerns.

After evaluating the workers’ complaints, the Labor Superintendent announced plans to file a criminal case against the company.

He assured a thorough investigation and stated that a report would be submitted to the District Labor Commissioner for further action.

He also mentioned the company’s violation of government orders by not granting a holiday on the day of voting, pledging to escalate the issue to the Deputy Commissioner.

Reports have emerged of the company making salary payments in cash, which contravenes government directives since 2017.

The management is suspected of violating labor laws regarding minimum wages, bonuses, Provident Fund (PF), Employee State Insurance (ESI), and gratuity.

A notice demanding clarification from the management will be issued on Wednesday.

A claim will be filed in the DLC court, and penalties will be imposed.

The allegations against the company’s management are being investigated, and criminal charges will be pursued if they are found guilty.

During the Labor Superintendent’s visit, it was observed that no registers were present at the company premises, indicating a lack of documentation.

Representatives from the Kolhan Mazdoor Union, including General Secretary Basant Kumar, were present, highlighting the solidarity of the workers in their demand for justice.
