Jamshedpur Eye Hospital celebrates Diamond Jubilee

New facilities inaugurated including Academic Wing, Modular OT Complex, Mechanized laundry

Jamshedpur: Jamshedpur Eye Hospital (JEH) celebrated it’s Diamond Jubilee today at its premise.

T V Narendran, CEO&MD Tata Steel inaugurated various new facilities at the JEH premises including Academic Wing, Preoperative Check-up Wing, Modular OT Complex, CSSD and Mechanised Laundry.

Ruchi Narendran, President, JEH, Chanakya Chaudhary, Vice President, JEH along with other Committee Members of JEH were also present during the programme.

JEH is known for ‘quality eye care at affordable cost’ since its inception. It has been updating its infrastructure, technology and practices while following the ethical path with the changing scenario. The hospital has evolved as a super-specialty eye care centre of this region in true sense.

Notably, JEH achieved almost all the Quality Accreditation Certifications existing in the sector of ‘Small Health Care Organisation’ like ISO, Ayushman Bronze & ENABH for which the audit was completed on July 30, 2022.

As a Centre of Total Eye Care, currently JEH is providing Comprehensive (Curative, Preventive as well as Rehabilitative) Eye Care to the entire community of Jamshedpur and neighbouring areas, districts and state.

JEH has also been performing Corporate Social Responsibility with the aim to eliminate avoidable visual impairment, by ‘Reaching the Unreachable’. Soon JEH is going to start a project ‘Satellite Mobile Eye Clinic on Van’ with the collaboration of Rotary Club of Jamshedpur, Global Grant & Tata Steel Foundation.

Well-equipped screening van will go to the doorsteps of people & screen the causes of visual impairment followed by ophthalmologists providing consultation. The effort will help in reducing prevalence of Visual Impairment.

JEH also has an ambition to develop into a ‘Teaching Eye Centre’ of excellence to produce efficient Ophthalmologist & Optometrist who can serve the country to reduce prevalence of blindness of the country from 1.99% to 0.3% (currently 1.08 Kerala to 3.67% UP & East Singhbhum is 2.13 % )

Under infrastructure augmentation programme, JEH has been upgrading it’s infrastructure and services in a phased manner. The project was started in 2015 with OPD area. Now, the entire hospital has been renovated with the Modular OT Complex being inaugurated.

The hospital has facility of CSSD, Mechanised Laundry, Cataract, Cornea & Camp workup station.

For teaching & training activities, state-of-the-art webinar room, seminar room and library have been set up so that teaching and training of up to post graduate can be facilitated.

Jamshedpur Eye Hospital is observing its Diamond Jubilee Celebration from August 1, 2021 to August 31, 2022.
