Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren recommends CBI probe into Dhanbad ADJ death case
Ranchi: The Jharkhand government has recommended a CBI inquiry into the death of Dhanbad ADJ Uttam Anand. The Chief Minister Hemant Soren has issued an order for this on Saturday.
On Friday itself the family members of the deceased judge had met the Chief Minister. The Chief Minister had assured them that ensuring justice in the case will be a priority for the state government.
On July 28, the Dhanbad Additional District and Sessions Judge VIII Uttam Anand was hit from behind by an auto-rickshaw when he was on his morning walk.
The CCTV footage showed clearly that it was not a hit and run case and that the auto rickshaw driver had deliberately hit the ADJ.
The CCTV footage had gone viral on the social media.
The ADJ had fallen on left side of the road and had died before he could be rushed to the hospital.
Next day, the police seized the auto that had hit him from Giridih. The police had also arrested the auto driver Lakhan Verma and his accomplice, whose interrogation is still going on.
The wife of ADJ had lodged an FIR in the police station that termed it a murder.
ADJ’s father also told the media that he was hit on the head with a rod-like object.
In the post-mortem also, the cause of death of ADJ has been given as injury caused by impact of a hard object.
The Supreme Court has also taken cognisance of this case.
The matter was also heard in the Jharkhand High Court on Thursday.
The High Court had also summoned the DGP of Jharkhand and the SP of Dhanbad in this matter.
At present, the investigation of this case is being done by the Special Investigative Team (SIT) constituted by the Jharkhand Police, headed by Senior IPS Sanjay Anand Latkar.
