Advocates go on pen down strike to protest Dhanbad ADJ’s suspected murder

Jamshedpur: Lawyers across the state are outraged after the murder of Dhanbad’s ADJ Uttam Anand. Advocates of Jamshedpur court went on a pen down strike to protest the suspected murder of AJD Uttam Anand and deterioration in law and order in the state.

Owing to the strike by advocates across the state, all judicial work came to a standstill.

In Jamshedpur and Seraikela, the lawyers remained on a pen down strike. A memorandum was also submitted to the DC enumerating several demands on behalf of Jamshedpur Bar Association after a delegation of advocates met the Deputy Commissioner of the district.

The memorandum demands the implementation of Advocate Protection Act.

Jamshedpur Bar Association President Lala Ajit Kumar Ambasht said that neither lawyers, nor journalists or doctors are safe in the state. Everyone is feeling insecure.

He said that law and order has completely collapsed in the state. He demanded that the state government provide security to lawyers, judges, journalists, doctors and common people.

Advocate Mithilesh Kumar Singh said that now even the judges are not safe.

He said that the district administration should arrest the killers and ensure harsh punishment so that the people can feel safe.

He said that if the public and the police administration were aware and if they helped the ADJ Uttam Anand on time, a life could have been saved by ensuring timely help.

He appealed to everyone to take anyone who is injured in a road accident to a hospital immediately to save his life.
