NIT Jamshedpur to Explore Ancient Indian Knowledge Traditions
National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur, initiates research into ancient Indian knowledge traditions, blending them with modern science and technology.
JAMSHEDPUR – The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Jamshedpur inaugurated its Indian Knowledge Tradition Center on Friday.
Dr. Omprakash Pandey, an expert in Indian knowledge traditions and author of the book Bharat Vaibhav, performed the inauguration.
The primary objective of the center is to merge ancient Indian knowledge traditions, used in human life since antiquity, with contemporary science and technology to make them relevant to present times.
In his inaugural address, Dr. Pandey expressed his belief that technical institutes should encourage research into the works of our ancestors to inspire future generations.
He called for cooperation in restoring the institute and India to their former glory and praised NIT Jamshedpur’s efforts to reinvigorate Indian knowledge culture.
Dr. Pandey discussed the usage of science by ancient Indian sages.
The institute’s director, Prof. Gautam Sutradhar, emphasized the ancient glories and traditions of India and urged scientists and students to absorb these traditions through research.
The center’s main purpose includes promoting traditional science and technology, developing new technology based on Vedic mathematics, astronomical science, and popularizing and digitizing classical music and ancient Indian art.
The center plans to disseminate Ayurvedic, Yoga, and Naturopathy techniques based on ancient traditions universally.
Its primary goal is to create awareness about cow-based agriculture and its sustainable development among farmers, and connect with the general public.
The inauguration was attended by Prof. Shailendra Kumar, Dr. Manish Kumar Jha, Prof. Ramvinay Sharma, Registrar Colonel (Dr) Nishith Kumar Rai, and Public Relations Officer cum Media Incharge Sunil Kumar Bhagat.
