Mukhi Samaj erupts in anger at police inaction in Julie Ghosh murder case, gheraoes Bistupur police station

Jamshedpur: Mukhi Samaj erupted in anger at the alleged police inaction in Julie Ghosh murder case and took out a rally, held demonstrations and gheraoed Bistupur police station to lodge protest Sunday. The community leaders have also warned that they would intensify their stir and gherao the district headquarters if quick action was not taken in the case.

A large number of members of Mukhi community took part in the demonstration and subsequent gherao of Bistupur police station.

Women and children too were a part of the demonstration. All were demanding quick action in Julie Ghosh murder case. Julie Ghosh was killed by unidentified person about 15 days back. The protestors were demanding that the police solve the case and send the culprits to jail.

Seeing the anger of the protestors Bistupur police had deployed heavy security arrangement near the police station. The main gate of the police station as closed. The protestors sat near the police station and held a meeting. They were insisting that the SSP be called at the site.

It may be added here that the Bistupur police have taken into custody Subham Ghosh alias Kera, nephew of deceased Julie Ghosh, in the case.

Basti residents are claiming that the arrested person might have a hand in the murder.

They also alleged that the police is under ‘influence’ of a liquor don of the area and that it is not sending the accused to jail due to that reason.

Suresh Mukhi, president of Mukhi Samaj said that if the police do not send the arrested accused to jail within next 24 hours, then all the residents of Harijan Basti of the entire city would gherao the district headquarters to force the police to act.

The protestors also shouted slogans and expressed anger at police inaction.

Hundreds of members of Mukhi Samaj protested police inaction in Julie Ghosh murder case and warned of intensifying agitation if accused are not sent to jail within 24 hours.

It may be added here that around 20 days back, on January 3 to be precise, the dead body of the woman, identified as Julie Ghosh, was found in her house in Dhatkidih Harijan Basti. Her head had marks suggesting that she might have been killed by hitting with a sharp weapon.

Soon after receiving information about the dead body being found in Harijan Basti, Dhatkidih, the City SP Subhash Chandra Jat reached at the site of occurrence and launched an investigations. The police have taken the dead body in their possession.

The deceased woman used to work as a sanitation worker. The incident had caused quite a sensation in the area.

The deceased woman’s family member said that when he reached his house to take his tiffin, the door of his house was not opened. When he entered the house through ventilator, he found his mother’s dead body.

The locals have expressed doubts that this may be a result of enmity and have urged the police to solve the case as soon as possible.

The City SP had said the those who have killed the woman would be arrested soon.
