The Bistupur Cyber Police Station has registered a complaint to tackle a fraudulent Facebook profile impersonating the Deputy Commissioner of East Singhbhum.

JAMSHEDPUR – A fraudulent social media account mimicking the Deputy Commissioner of East Singhbhum has prompted legal action following a formal complaint.

Upon discovering that the public was being defrauded through a counterfeit Facebook account using the Deputy Commissioner’s likeness, authorities were alerted.

The complaint was lodged by District Liaison Officer Panchanan Urao, who highlighted the misuse of social media for financial scams.

The cyber police have been tasked with shutting down the illegitimate account and pursuing legal proceedings against the perpetrators.

This move is part of ongoing efforts to safeguard residents from online financial crimes, particularly those involving identity impersonation.
