Tata Steel Summer Camp 2026 Set for JRD Sports Complex in May

Key Points:

  • Tata Steel Summer Camp 2026 runs May 11–31 at JRD Tata Sports Complex, Jamshedpur
  • Over 3,500 participants expected; 40 special needs children to be included
  • Pickleball, skill workshops and nutrition sessions newly added this year

JAMSHEDPUR – Tata Steel’s sports division has announced its Summer Camp 2026, to be held at JRD Tata Sports Complex from May 11 to May 31, with over 3,500 participants expected.

Last year’s edition had recorded 2,995 participants. This year’s edition is projected to surpass that figure significantly.

A total of 19 sports and activities will be available for participants. These include athletics, badminton, volleyball, football, swimming, yoga, Zumba, karate, boxing, chess, horse riding, roller skating, and basketball, among others.

Pickleball, a racquet sport gaining rapid popularity across all age groups, has been newly added this year. Meanwhile, roll ball skating for children between 4 and 6 years of age will continue from the previous edition.

Inclusivity is a key feature of the camp. Around 40 children with special needs will participate. In addition, approximately 60 children from the “Masti ki Pathshala” initiative will also be part of the event.

All coaches and trainers have undergone training under POSH regulations and ethical guidelines. This is intended to ensure a safe and respectful environment for every participant.

Adults will have access to self-defence, weight loss, and fitness sessions. On the other hand, parents will also find recreational activities earmarked specifically for them. The camp has been deliberately designed as a family-oriented event.

An in-house nutritionist will conduct special sessions on sports nutrition and hydration. The international organisation “Leading You^(n)th (TLY)” will conduct skill development workshops for various age groups.

For children between 6 and 12 years, the focus will be on sport-based learning, creativity, teamwork, and storytelling. However, for teenagers between 13 and 19 years, sessions will cover leadership, mental resilience, communication, and personal identity development.

Similar camps will simultaneously be held at Tata Steel‘s other centres — TSK, TSM, RM, TGS, and TSG — during the same period.

D B Sundara Ramam, Vice President (Corporate Services) at Tata Steel, said that sports play a vital role in shaping character. “We aim to inspire young talent and help them reach their full potential through platforms like these,” he said.

He also thanked the residents of Jamshedpur for their enthusiastic support, noting that the Steel City’s passion for sports motivates the team to raise the bar higher every year.

The Tata Steel sports division has long been a torchbearer for grassroots sporting development. The Tata Steel Adventure Foundation recently organised Jamshedpur’s first open water swim-a-thon at Dimna Lake. Besides, TSAF climbing academy cadets had won six medals at the IFSC Asian Kids Sport Climbing Championship 2025. Moreover, three TSAF athletes have recently qualified for the 2026 Asian Games.
