SDO Raids Galudih Toll Plaza, Seizes 5 Sand-Laden Trucks

Four Drivers Detained as One Flees After Illegal Mining Crackdown on Putru Route

Key Points:

  • 5 sand-laden trucks seized at Galudih Putru Toll Plaza on Wednesday morning
  • 4 drivers detained; one driver abandoned vehicle and fled the scene
  • Trucks were heading toward Jamshedpur with allegedly illegally mined sand

GALUDIH — An SDO-led raid at the Galudih Putru Toll Plaza on Wednesday morning resulted in the seizure of five trucks loaded with sand, as part of a crackdown on illegal sand transportation in the area.

The five trucks were intercepted during a special raid at the toll plaza. All of them were heading toward Tatanagar at the time of the operation. Officials conducted the operation specifically targeting the illegal transportation of sand in the region.

Out of the five drivers, four were taken into custody. However, the fifth driver abandoned his vehicle and managed to flee from Galudih. A search for the absconding driver is reportedly underway.

The seized trucks and the detained drivers have been handed over to the concerned authorities for further legal action. Officials said the raid was aimed at checking the rampant illegal sand mining and its transportation through Galudih.

Illegal sand mining is a major concern across Jharkhand, with authorities periodically conducting drives to curb the trade. Sand is typically mined illegally from riverbeds and transported to construction markets in Jamshedpur and surrounding areas.
