SERAIKELA – A young man was killed on the spot after an unidentified vehicle struck him on NH-33 near Shaharbeda in the Chandil subdivision of Seraikela-Kharsawan district.

The deceased was identified through his Aadhaar card as Loso Murmu. He was a resident of Chhota Badamari village under Badamari Panchayat in Seraikela-Kharsawan district.

The accident triggered grief in the surrounding area. Local residents expressed deep shock over the incident.

Social activist and highway safety crusader Shekhar Ganguly rushed to the spot upon receiving the news. He promptly notified the administration and arranged an ambulance.

The body was subsequently sent to MGM Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Local residents and administrative personnel jointly assisted in the process.

Chandil Police arrived at the scene soon after. Officers launched an investigation into the hit-and-run accident without delay.

Meanwhile, the police are working to trace the unidentified vehicle involved. They are also making arrangements to inform the next of kin.

On the other hand, arrangements to notify the family are being made simultaneously by authorities. The body remains at the hospital pending completion of formalities.

Road accidents in Seraikela district have been on the rise on NH-33. The recurring fatalities on this stretch have renewed concerns over highway safety in the region.
