SERAIKELA – A tragic accident early Thursday near Tangarani, Seraikela, claimed the lives of two people, including Gamharia resident and poll official Subodh Prasad, while three others sustained serious injuries.
Subodh Prasad, a primary school teacher in Chaibasa, was returning from depositing EVMs at the Chaibasa receiving center after election duties at a Gamharia polling station.
He was traveling by bike with colleague Om Prakash when, near Tangarani on the Seraikela-Chaibasa road, they collided head-on with another bike carrying Shiva Purti from Sini Sidma village.
Shiva Purti was traveling with his sister-in-law Poonam Purti and a ten-year-old child, Durga Purti, heading to Khirihatu.
Local residents alerted the Seraikela police, who rushed to the scene, transporting all victims to the Sadar Hospital.
Upon arrival, doctors declared Subodh Prasad and Shiva Purti dead, while Om Prakash, Poonam, and Durga were referred to MGM Hospital after initial treatment due to the severity of their injuries.
