Jamshedpur Hosts 79th, 80th and 81st Championship Dog Show

Three-Day Event Features 326 Dogs, International Judges at JRD Sports Complex

JAMSHEDPUR – The Jamshedpur Kennel Club will organize three championship dog shows from January 9-11, 2026.

The prestigious event takes place at JRD Tata Sports Complex. The Archery Ground hosts the competition. Moreover, the show celebrates canine excellence and sportsmanship.

The event includes multiple specialized competitions. An Obedience Test opens the program. However, Labrador and Beagle Specialty Shows also feature prominently.

The Obedience Competition remains India’s most respected assessment. Thirty-nine dogs participate in obedience trials this year. In addition, 20 dogs compete for Post Graduate Qualification.

Seven dogs undergo Companion Dog assessment. These animals serve medical purposes. On the other hand, their training demonstrates specialized capabilities.

The main championship features 326 competing dogs. Forty-three different breeds participate in the event. Meanwhile, exotic breeds include Tibetan Mastiff and Chow Chow.

Dogo Argentino and English Setter appear in the ring. Native Indian breeds also participate actively. Furthermore, Caravan Hound and Combai join the competition.

Mudhol Hound, Pashmi, and Raja Palayam showcase indigenous excellence. These breeds represent India’s canine heritage. Besides, their participation promotes native breed preservation.

A special local ranking event debuts this year. The top eight Jamshedpur dogs receive rankings. First through eighth Best in Show titles are awarded.

Local handlers receive recognition through special awards. Best Local Handler and Reserve Best Handler titles promote participation. Moreover, the initiative encourages local breeding programs.

The panel features FCI-certified international judges. Mr. Philip Butt from India judges the Obedience Trials. However, Ms. Irina Poletaeva from Finland evaluates Labrador Retrievers.

Mr. Perttu Stahlberg from Finland assesses Beagle Specialty entries. Ms. Natalia Mestvirishvili from Georgia judges the 79th JKC Show. In addition, Ms. Poletaeva and Mr. Nawin Sangvivake from Thailand adjudicate later shows.

The inauguration occurs on January 9 at 9:00 AM. Sri T.V. Narendran, CEO and MD of Tata Steel, serves as Chief Guest. Meanwhile, catalogue distribution begins at 8:00 AM.

The Obedience Test Class commences at 10:00 AM. Prize distribution follows at 7:00 PM. On the other hand, January 10 features Specialty Shows.

The 79th JKC Show takes place at 9:00 AM. The 80th and 81st JKC Shows occur on January 11. Furthermore, daily prize distributions conclude each day’s events.

Dog shows attract enthusiasts from across the country. Championship events showcase breeding excellence and training standards. FCI certification ensures international recognition. Winning titles enhance breeding programs significantly.
