KOLKATA – The 4th Chandrakala Dance Festival took place at ICCR in Kolkata on January 4, celebrating classical Indian dance traditions.

Odissi Ashram organized the prestigious event. The festival honored the late Guru Giridhari Nayak. Director Smt. Tamala Nayak guided the program.

Students opened the evening with traditional Odissi presentations. They performed Shiva Stuti, Vishnu Vandana, and Vakratunda. The spiritual atmosphere captivated the audience.

Sujata Nayak delivered a solo Odissi performance. She presented “Sakhi Hey Abhinaya” from Ashtapadi Geeta Govindam. Moreover, her expressive abhinaya depicted Radha’s message to Krishna. The audience warmly appreciated her rendition.

Students then showcased an elegant Pallavi. Prof. Debamitra Kar performed a powerful Durga Tandava. Meanwhile, Guru Aloka Kanungo presented graceful abhinaya on “Path Chhari De”.

The festival featured diverse dance styles. Nrityacharya Rahul Dev Mondal and Anusua Sur Mondal performed a Bharatanatyam duet. In addition, Guru Sandeep Mallick mesmerized viewers with Kathak rhythms using only ghungroos.

Students presented Chandan Charchita Abhinaya from Geeta Govinda. They also performed Matangi Dhyanam. However, the finale “Yuge Yuge Bhagavan” concluded the evening devotionally.

California Television Global broadcast the event internationally. The program reached audiences across 15 countries. This expanded the festival’s cultural impact significantly.

Guest artists paid floral tributes to Lord Jagannath. They also honored Guru Giridhari Nayak’s portrait. Furthermore, the institution felicitated all guest performers. The recognition celebrated their contributions to classical dance.
