JAMSHEDPUR – The body of an unidentified 45-year-old woman was discovered in the Swarnrekha River at Kandarbeda in Chandil police station area on Friday morning.
Villagers spotted the body floating in the river. They immediately informed the police about the discovery. Officer-in-charge Dilson Biruwa reached the Kandarbeda site promptly.
The police official conducted preliminary investigation at the scene. He then arranged to send the body for postmortem. The remains were transferred to Seraikela Sadar Hospital.
Authorities are attempting to identify the deceased woman. Police officials have launched efforts to trace her identity. However, no family members have come forward yet.
The officer-in-charge stated that drowning appears the likely cause. Initial examination suggests death occurred due to drowning. Further action will be taken after receiving the postmortem report.
Police are examining possible circumstances surrounding the death. The investigation will continue until identity is established. Moreover, authorities are checking missing person reports from nearby areas.
