RAMGARH – A tragic incident unfolded in Ramgarh district where a wild elephant killed a CCL employee in the Kuju forest area while he was reportedly attempting to take a selfie.

The incident occurred late evening in Sarubeda Four Number under the Ghatotand police station area. The location falls within the Kuju forest range.

Moreover, the elephant attacked the victim by striking him repeatedly with its trunk. The assault resulted in instant death on the spot.

Meanwhile, the deceased was identified as Amit Rajwar. He was employed as a security guard with Central Coalfields Limited.

According to eyewitnesses, Amit noticed the elephant nearby and approached it. He allegedly attempted to take a selfie moments before the attack.

However, the elephant became aggressive suddenly. It lifted and slammed him forcefully using its trunk.

Notably, the entire incident was captured on camera. The video has since circulated widely, causing shock and fear.

In recent days, wild elephants have been roaming continuously in the Ghatotand forest belt. Villagers reported frequent sightings.

Besides, no effective elephant deterrence measures were taken by the forest department. Locals had raised concerns earlier.

As a result, the danger escalated steadily. The fatal incident highlighted administrative lapses.

Soon after the incident, forest officials rushed to the spot. They began investigating the circumstances.

Meanwhile, officials are also assessing the number of elephants present in the area. Movement patterns are being tracked.

In rural pockets, fear has spread rapidly. Villagers have restricted movement after sunset.

Earlier, elephant-related incidents were reported near Baharagora. Crop damage had forced farmers to flee.

Similarly, an injured elephant died earlier in Saranda forest. The case raised serious wildlife safety concerns.

On the other hand, elephant deaths were also reported near Chaibasa forest. Authorities had ordered inquiries then.

Besides, herds were seen roaming close to villages near Jadugoda. Crops and homes suffered damage.

Earlier this year, an elephant calf died due to cold near Galudih. Wildlife experts flagged habitat stress.
