Chaibasa – A wave of concern spread through Chaibasa forest area of West Singhbhum district after the body of an elephant was found in a field on Friday. Forest Officer Aditya Kumar reported receiving information about the death on Thursday night but couldn’t reach Pattajaint village due to the late hour.
Circumstances Leading to the Death
Officials revealed that the elephant had strayed from its herd and wandered into Jotia forest near a village, where it eventually died. Postmortem samples have been dispatched to a Ranchi laboratory for a detailed investigation.
Ruling Out Injury or Electrocution
According to the forest officer, there were no visible injury marks on the elephant’s body, nor were there any electric wires in the vicinity, ruling out electrocution. “The matter is under thorough investigation to ascertain the exact cause of death,” he added.
