1971 war heroes honoured as students hear battle stories

Ex-servicemen recount India’s wars, guide youth on defence careers

JAMSHEDPUR – Veterans of the 1971 war were honoured on Vijay Diwas while students across city schools listened to inspiring accounts of India’s military history and career guidance sessions.

The programme was organised by Purva Sainik Seva Parishad and Bharat Bharati Sanstha. Martyrs of the 1971 war were remembered with tributes offered from their respective homes.

Moreover, retired personnel from the Army, Navy, and Air Force visited schools and colleges. They narrated key wars fought by India after Independence.

Meanwhile, students learned about courage, sacrifice, and discipline shown by soldiers. Veterans also explained responsibilities carried by armed forces personnel.

In addition, detailed guidance was given on joining the Army, Navy, and Air Force. Students showed keen interest during interactive sessions.

Notably, 1971 war heroes were felicitated with shawls, bouquets, and sweets. Vijay Diwas greetings were extended with wishes for good health and longevity.

Those honoured included Havaldar Ramesh Singh and Havaldar Baljeet Singh. Havaldar Chandrama Singh and Havaldar Sonelal were also honoured.

Besides, Havaldar Kamal Dubey and Petty Officer Ramji Dubey received recognition. Organisers praised their service and lifelong contribution.

The outreach covered many city institutions in one coordinated drive. These included South Point School and Blue Bells School Mango.

Similarly, Saraswati Shishu Vidya Mandir Bagbera and Burmamines hosted sessions. Schools in Birsa Nagar and Baradwari also participated.

Moreover, Bharat Sevashram School Sundar Nagar welcomed veterans for interactions. Students heard detailed accounts of Indian military bravery.

Such outreach continues initiatives by the Purva Sainik Seva Parishad. The organisation remains active in civic engagement.

Previously, ex-servicemen also marked Army Day celebrations across the city. These events strengthened public awareness.

On the other hand, veterans discussed welfare concerns during an ECHS meeting with officials. Engagements with authorities continue regularly.

Similarly, defence outreach included an interaction with Defence MoS in Jamshedpur. Policy matters were highlighted then.

Meanwhile, patriotic observances like Kargil Vijay Diwas continue to inspire younger generations. Such programmes link history with civic duty.

Key organisers included state secretary Sushil Kumar Singh and zonal coordinator Rajiv Ranjan. Several social workers and volunteers participated actively.
