Key Points:
- Kowali police intercept three hyvas transporting illegal sand at night
- Vehicles carrying 1500 CFT sand seized during patrol operation
- Sand being smuggled from Odisha under cover of darkness
JAMSHEDPUR – Kowali police seized three hyvas loaded with illegal sand during a night patrol operation on Saturday.
Station In-Charge Dhananjay Kumar Paswan led the team. Officers were conducting routine patrol in the area. Moreover, they received intelligence about large-scale sand smuggling activities.
The vehicles were transporting sand from Odisha illegally. Smugglers exploited darkness to avoid detection and enforcement. However, police intercepted all three hyvas during inspection.
Each vehicle carried approximately 500 CFT of sand. Total seizure amounted to 1500 CFT combined. In addition, all three hyvas have been impounded.
Police are investigating the smuggling network’s operations. The drivers are being questioned about supply chains. Meanwhile, illegal sand transportation continues to pose enforcement challenges.
Night-time smuggling remains a common tactic in the region. Transporters use cover of darkness strategically. On the other hand, increased police vigilance has led to more interceptions.
Further action is underway against the seized vehicles. Legal proceedings will follow standard protocol for such cases. Besides, authorities are tracing ownership and destination details.
Illegal sand mining affects multiple districts in Jharkhand. Seraikela region has witnessed several similar seizures recently. Furthermore, enforcement drives continue across border areas.
Mining operations without permits violate state regulations. Environmental damage accompanies such unauthorized extraction activities. Meanwhile, government directives emphasize stricter monitoring.
Previous crackdowns in Adityapur resulted in multiple tractor seizures. Bishrampur operations impounded 15 vehicles in single raid. In contrast, smugglers continue adapting their methods.
Cross-border sand smuggling involves organized networks spanning states. Odisha serves as major source for illegal supplies. However, inter-state coordination remains challenging for enforcement agencies.
