Samvaad 2025 to Begin in Jamshedpur on Friday
2,500 Participants from 153 Tribes Across 26 States to Attend Tribal Conclave

JAMSHEDPUR – Tata Steel Foundation will host Samvaad 2025 from November 15 to 19 at Gopal Maidan, marking Jharkhand’s 25th Statehood Day and commemorating the 150th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda.
The 12th edition will bring together 2,500 participants. They represent 153 tribes from 26 states and Union Territories. Moreover, the conclave aims to cover nearly 50% of India’s tribal representation.
Since 2014, Samvaad has connected over 43,500 people. These individuals come from 333 tribes across India. The platform has evolved into a unique ecosystem of tribal identity.
Tribal elders from Jharkhand will jointly inaugurate the event at 6 p.m. Senior leadership of Tata Steel Foundation will join them. Additionally, nine children from tribal communities will participate in the ceremony.
Each day features two distinct segments. Mornings are dedicated to dialogue across multiple venues. However, evenings converge at Gopal Maidan for cultural performances.
The venue will showcase 51 outlets of tribal handicrafts. Furthermore, 30 stalls will focus on tribal healing practices. These displays offer an immersive experience of tribal knowledge.
Nineteen home cooks from 12 tribes will present Aatithya – Tribal Cuisine through food stalls. The dishes will also be available on Zomato. The Zomato counter opens November 15 at 3 p.m.
Tribal healers from 24 tribes will participate. They come from 12 states across India. Their focus includes lifestyle diseases and chiropractic care.
The handicraft exhibition features 34 unique art forms. These come from 18 states and 30 tribes. On the other hand, displays include home décor and paintings.
Samuday Ke Saath will highlight cultural identity through films. Seven national short film competitions have been conducted. Moreover, over 250 films have been submitted across editions.
The Samvaad Fellowship selected 34 participants this year. They were chosen from 572 applications across 26 states. Besides, these fellows represent 122 tribes nationwide.
The fellows have delivered 70 intellectual properties. Five projects are slated for release in 2025. In addition, five new fellows will receive awards this year.
Kati and Sekkor matches will occur daily at 5 p.m. These traditional tribal sports will encourage spectator participation. The matches allow dialogue with players about preserving tribal sports.
The conclave commemorates two historic milestones for Jharkhand. The state celebrates its 25th year of formation. Meanwhile, it honors Birsa Munda’s 150th birth anniversary.
