JAMSHEDPUR – The city’s Excise Department has ramped up efforts to curb illegal liquor trade as the festive season approaches.
A raid in Beradhipa, under Bagbera police station, revealed an illegal liquor storage facility.
Moreover, authorities seized 310.17 liters of various banned IMFL brands during the operation.
Meanwhile, the crackdown follows directives from District Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal.
Furthermore, the confiscated brands include McDowell No. 1, Royal Stag, and Imperial Gold.
On the other hand, other seized liquors were UK No. 1, Night Queen, Black Tiger, and Kings Gold.
In addition, a case has been filed against businessman Pintu under the Excise Act.
"We’re committed to eliminating illegal liquor trade in the city," stated an Excise Department official.
Besides the seizure, efforts are underway to arrest the main accused in the case.
The department is gathering intelligence reports to track further leads in the investigation.
"This raid is part of our ongoing efforts to ensure a safe festive season," the official added.
Authorities warn that all IMFL brands seized are banned for sale in Jharkhand.
