Public Hearing Clears Way as Locals Support New Management

JAMSHEDPUR – The Divine Vidyut Limited power plant in Palgam village under Chowka police station of Chandil subdivision, Seraikela-Kharsawan, is expected to resume operations soon.

A public hearing was held on Tuesday for environmental clearance. Land donors and local residents participated and expressed support for restarting the company. However, they placed certain conditions, which the management accepted.

The meeting saw the presence of ADC Harshvardhan Kumar, regional director of Pollution Control Board Jitendra Singh, environmental scientist Priyanka Singh, company officials, and hundreds of villagers.

The plant earlier produced 20 megawatts of electricity but has remained shut for around a decade due to local disputes. Following insolvency, Shah Sponge acquired the company through the NCLT process.

Villagers welcomed the new management without resistance, hoping for revival. Company officials assured locals that legitimate demands would be addressed. ADC Harshvardhan Kumar said reopening the plant would generate employment and aid rural development.
