JAMSHEDPUR – A large crowd gathered at the JRD Tata Sports Complex for a Walkathon held to mark National Sports Day 2025 and the birth anniversary of Sir Dorab Tata.

The Sports Department of Tata Steel organized the event, which drew more than 350 participants. They represented different age groups, competing in categories ranging from 20 years to 70 years.

The Walkathon was flagged off by Tata Steel Chief of Sports Mukul Vinayak Choudhari, Chief of Aviation Ravi Radhakrishnan, and Padmashri awardee and Dronacharya coach Purnima Mahato.

Meanwhile, senior police officials presented prizes. SSP East Singhbhum Piyush Pandey, Rural SP Rishabha Garg, and City SP Kumar Shivashish handed awards to the winners.

Participants walked distances between 800 meters and 2 kilometers. Both men’s and women’s categories were included, ensuring broad involvement.

The organizing committee included Ananya Lepii, Firoz Khan, Umesh Vikram Kumar, Punam Singh, Ajit Kumar, Hassan Imam, Sanjay Kumar Mishra, and Shalini Sharma.

One participant said, “The energy here shows how fitness can bring all generations together.”
