JAMSHEDPUR – The allotment of all liquor shops in East Singhbhum was finalized through an e-lottery held on Friday.
Officials confirmed that 45 groups, covering 109 shops, were distributed. Many previous license holders were left out this year, while some outsiders entered the trade. The Shivhare family of Madhya Pradesh, once part of a state-wide liquor syndicate, secured four groups.
The event was streamed live from the Collectorate hall. The link was also shared on the departmental website for open viewing. After the draw, winners deposited the license fees and security money for one year. Deputy Commissioner Karn Satyarthi and Assistant Excise Commissioner Ajay Kumar signed the official allocation papers.
From September 1, the liquor shops will operate under private control. Officials stated that buyers will now benefit from competitive pricing and brand availability as retailers will compete on quality and rates.
