Saryu Roy Appears in Ranchi MP-MLA Court Over Official Secrets Case

Legislator Alleges Police Filed Chargesheet Under Political Pressure

Key Points:

  • Saryu Roy appears in MP-MLA court regarding Official Secrets Act case
  • Police ignored legal provisions while filing chargesheet, alleges legislator
  • Case stems from COVID incentive scam documents shared with Chief Minister

JAMSHEDPUR – Jamshedpur West MLA Saryu Roy appeared before the MP-MLA court in Ranchi on Wednesday in connection with an Official Secrets Act case.

The appearance relates to an FIR registered at Doranda police station. Moreover, it was filed following directions from former Health Minister Banna Gupta. The case emerged after Roy exposed health department irregularities.

Roy examined case investigation records thoroughly. He reviewed police diaries and related documents. Moreover, the analysis revealed significant procedural lapses. “Police investigators ignored legal provisions completely,” Roy stated.

The legislator alleged political pressure influenced proceedings. He claimed investigators filed chargesheet without proper evidence. Moreover, Roy vowed to expose the conspiracy. “I will ensure action against erring officials,” he declared.

Roy expressed surprise at case registration. The documents he shared were routine administrative papers. Moreover, they were preserved in regular files. “These were not classified documents at all,” he emphasized.

The health department filed case despite documentation nature. However, Roy had exposed major scam details. He shared evidence with Chief Minister directly. Moreover, the documents revealed systematic irregularities.

Doranda police station investigator handled the case. Additionally, Hatia Deputy Superintendent supervised proceedings. Roy alleged they ignored legal requirements. Moreover, they filed chargesheet without substantial evidence.

The chargesheet includes Section 120(B) provisions. However, police diaries lack supporting evidence. Moreover, investigators failed to prove any communication. Roy maintained no contact with health officials.

Section 120(B) requires multiple accused persons. However, police failed to identify co-conspirators. Moreover, investigation reports lack clarity. “No other accused are mentioned anywhere,” Roy observed.

Hatia Deputy Superintendent verified the case illegally. However, senior officers provided no supervision. Moreover, Ranchi City SP remained silent. The Senior SP also avoided review responsibilities.

Roy wrote to DGP on May 18, 2024. He requested thorough investigation into the matter. Moreover, DGP ordered immediate inquiry. However, investigation reports ignore this directive completely.

“Corrupt officials target me repeatedly,” Roy explained. He faces cases whenever exposing major corruption. Moreover, accused departments file counter-cases. This pattern continues across multiple investigations.

The court provides platform for transparency. Roy will present facts before judiciary. Moreover, he will pursue 2022 allegations. The legislator remains committed to exposing truth.

The COVID incentive scam involved Banna Gupta. He allegedly diverted healthcare workers’ payments. Moreover, 59 people from minister’s office received benefits. Roy reported this on April 13, 2022.

Health department registered FIR subsequently. They used Official Secrets Act provisions. Moreover, Doranda police station handled registration. The case targets Roy’s whistleblowing activities.
