8 Al Qaeda Suspects Arrested in Jharkhand Joint Raids
National agencies, ATS, and Delhi Police conduct operations across 22 locations
Joint raids in Jharkhand lead to arrests of suspected Al Qaeda members, including a doctor, with weapons seized.
RANCHI – On Thursday, eight Al Qaeda suspects, including a doctor, were apprehended in Jharkhand as a result of joint searches conducted by the Delhi Police, state ATS, and national agencies in 22 locations.
Raids were verified by Inspector General AV Homkar in Ranchi, Lohardaga, and Hazaribagh.
Local police, the Jharkhand Anti-Terrorist Squad, and the Special Task Force were all involved in the collaborative operation.
The investigations resulted in the detention of eight individuals.
From the suspects, weapons, laptops, mobile phones, and Al Qaeda documents were retrieved.
The detainees are being interrogated and documents are being verified by the authorities.
Based on the information provided by the detained individuals, additional inspections are being conducted.
Carbines and AK-47s, as well as automatic and semi-automatic weapons, were confiscated.
Additionally, hand explosives were discovered during the operation.
The Delhi Police have identified one of the detained suspects as Dr. Ishtiyaq, who is purportedly the leader of the Al Qaeda chapter in Jharkhand.
According to reports, the physician was accountable for the recruitment of cadres for the terrorist organization.
Dr. Ishtiyaq is purportedly motivated by a desire to proclaim "khilafat" and conduct significant terrorist activities throughout India.
The specific detention of a doctor was not addressed by IG Homkar.
Six additional arrests were made as a result of related operations in Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.
According to reports, all individuals apprehended in Rajasthan are from Jharkhand.
The Bhiwadi region is purportedly where the accused in Rajasthan were receiving weapons training.
Rizwan Ali, a suspected member of Al Qaeda, was recently apprehended in Delhi, prompting these investigations.
The operations serve as a testament to the continuous fight against terrorist activities in the region.
