Committee Approves Farmer Applications Under Mechanization Scheme

MEDININAGAR – Applications submitted by farmers under the Farm Mechanization Incentive Scheme were reviewed and approved in a district-level selection committee meeting held at the Deputy Commissioner’s office on Tuesday.

The committee, chaired by Deputy Commissioner Shashi Ranjan, discussed the importance of mechanization in improving farmers’ lives. He emphasized the administration’s efforts to implement government schemes that directly benefit farmers. “Mechanization not only boosts productivity but also offers farmers opportunities to increase their income through equipment rentals,” he noted.

Beneficiaries and Equipment Distribution

The approved applications span various financial years, including 2023-24 and 2024-25. Beneficiaries include women self-help groups, Sakhi Mandal farmer groups, LAMPS, PACS, and progressive farmers. Equipment like mini-tractors, power tillers, rice transplanters, and solar pump sets will be distributed.

For FY 2023-24, applications under different categories were sanctioned, including:

• Four Sakhi Mandal groups for mini-tractors.
• Individual farmers for power tillers.
• Various pump set allocations under MGNREGA schemes.

For FY 2024-25, proposals focus on small and marginal farmers, with plans to expand pump set distributions.

Government Initiatives and Support

The district administration also plans to forward the approved list to the state government for implementation. Notably, the Mukhyamantri Tractor Distribution Scheme has shortlisted 11 tractors and three mini-tractors under the OSP fund for approval.

Additionally, the Deputy Commissioner had recently announced the procurement of two lakh quintals of paddy in Palamu under another initiative to support farmers (details here).

Officials such as Land Conservation Officer Shyam Bind, Welfare Officer Sewaram Sahu, and Agriculture Officer Deepak Kumar actively participated in the proceedings.
