MEDININAGAR – A tragic incident unfolded in Palamu’s Rajhara village, where an ongoing family dispute fueled by superstition resulted in a fatal attack. Sahil Chauhan, suspecting witchcraft behind his niece’s recent death, allegedly killed his cousin Rohit Chauhan using an axe.
The altercation began late Friday night when an argument erupted between the cousins over Sahil’s allegations. The situation quickly escalated into violence, leading to Sahil attacking Rohit with a lethal blow. Despite immediate efforts by the family to seek medical assistance, Rohit succumbed to his injuries on the way to the hospital.
Police Investigation and Arrest
Authorities at the Nava Bazar Police Station acted swiftly, arresting Sahil Chauhan for the murder. Station officer Chintu Kumar confirmed that the family feud and superstition surrounding the death of Sahil’s niece were central to the incident.
The victim’s body was sent to Medinirai Medical College Hospital for a post-mortem, and further investigations are ongoing. Officer Kumar highlighted that disputes between the families had been simmering for years, with this tragic event marking a peak in tensions.
