Annual Event Showcases Green Creativity

The “Garden of the Year” competition, initiated in 2013 by the Horticulture Society, celebrates creativity and sustainability in gardening. This year’s evaluations began at the Bistupur residence of Sumita Nupur, the society’s president. Judges will assess gardens on landscaping, seasonal flowers, potted vegetables, fruits, medicinal plants, and artistic elements.

Diverse Participation in 2025 Edition

The competition received 64 entries from corporate companies, corporate-maintained bungalows, educational institutions, and individual homes. Judges aim to identify the most innovative and well-maintained gardens across categories. One standout is Sumita Nupur’s garden, home to over 300 plants, including flowers, vegetables, and ornamental varieties, transforming her home into a lush green haven.

Judges noted the importance of greenery in urban settings, applauding efforts to integrate nature into daily life. The competition not only celebrates gardening excellence but also encourages sustainable practices among Jamshedpur’s residents.
