Work-Life Balance Issues, Social Media Among Key Factors Behind Marriage Disputes
Key Points:

- Work-Life Balance Major Concern Among Dual-Income Couples
- Social Media Content Creation Emerges as New Marriage Stressor
JAMSHEDPUR – The District Legal Services Authority reported over 500 divorce cases filed last year, with work-life balance emerging as a critical factor.
The city has witnessed a significant rise in matrimonial disputes among working couples. Counselors at the Family Court have observed that role reversals, where husbands become homemakers, often lead to conflicts.
“Through our counseling sessions, we help couples understand each other’s perspectives,” said a senior counselor at the Family Court. Many couples face challenges when wives pursue careers while husbands manage household responsibilities.
Modern Challenges
Social media has introduced new strains on marriages. Disagreements over creating content like reels have become a growing concern among younger couples.
Meanwhile, the DLSA successfully mediates more than 50% of cases. “We focus on rebuilding trust through open dialogue,” remarked a family court mediator.
Intervention Efforts
The Family Court has strengthened its counseling program. It now includes specialized sessions addressing social media-related conflicts.
Moreover, the court has introduced mandatory cooling-off periods. This gives couples time to reconsider their decisions.
