MEDININAGAR – A two-day block-level sports competition concluded at GLA College grounds, celebrating youth talent and sportsmanship.
The event was organized by the Palamu unit of Nehru Yuva Kendra under the guidance of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. Sub-inspector Surendra Panna inaugurated the event by garlanding the portrait of Bhagwan Birsa Munda and lighting a ceremonial lamp. He emphasized the importance of sports in building discipline and resilience, encouraging participants to pursue excellence through practice.
Diverse Competitions Showcase Talent
The competition saw active participation from youth aged 15-29 years from Medininagar Sadar, Patan, and Pandwa blocks. Events included boys’ football, 400m race, and long jump, while girls competed in kabaddi, 200m race, and skipping. Players exhibited enthusiasm and remarkable skill during the contests.
Celebrating Achievements
Sadar block emerged victorious in football and kabaddi, with Patan and Pandwa securing runner-up positions in respective categories. Individual achievements included Nitish Kumar Singh (long jump), Ashutosh Kumar (400m race), Nishi Kumari (200m race), and Rani Kumari (skipping), who secured first place in their events.
Looking Ahead to District-Level
Satyam Singh from Nehru Yuva Kendra announced that winners and first-place holders will compete at the district-level sports meet scheduled for January. The event concluded with medals and mementos presented to the winners, encouraging youth to aim higher in their sports careers.
