JAMSHEDPUR – Officials fined three shopkeepers during an anti-tobacco drive near schools in the Kadma area.
The inspection took place under SDO Shatabdi Majumdar’s leadership. The team focused on shops around Tata Workers Union High School.
Moreover, Executive Magistrate Chandrajit Singh joined the operation. Food Safety Officer Manjar Hussain also participated in the checks.
Meanwhile, the COTPA Act prohibits tobacco sales near educational institutions. The restricted zone extends to 100 yards from school boundaries.
Previous Anti-Tobacco Initiatives
The city administration conducted similar drives last month. Additionally, several awareness programs were organized in schools.
Furthermore, officials have installed warning signs near educational zones. Local police stations maintain regular surveillance in these areas.
