10 Teams to Play 26 Matches in First-Ever Cricket Event at Business School

JAMSHEDPUR – XLRI Jamshedpur inaugurated its first cricket tournament in 75 years, titled “Play for a Cause”, honoring founding director Fr. Quinn Enright.

RAF Second Command Officer Sachidanand Mishra inaugurated the event. XLRI Director Fr. S. George attended the ceremony.

Meanwhile, Vintage Warriors defeated TSF in the opening match. XL Alums faced Loyola Alumni in the second game.

Tournament Details

The event features diverse participating teams. Alumni, staff, and vendors form part of the lineup.

Moreover, Vikas Yadav earned the first Man of Match award. He scored 68 runs and took four wickets.

Community Impact

Fr. Donald D’Silva highlighted the tournament’s social mission. The proceeds will support underprivileged sections.

Furthermore, the event promotes community bonding. Similar initiatives have united different groups previously.

“Cricket can build healthy communities,” noted Fr. D’Silva. The tournament continues until February 1, 2025.
