Farmers Submit Memorandum to CM Soren, Warn of Statewide Agitation

Key Points:

  • BJP Kisan Morcha accuses Hemant Soren government of injustice.
  • Farmers demand MSP of ₹3200/quintal, oppose moisture-related cuts.
  • Statewide protests threatened if demands remain unresolved.

JAMSHEDPUR – The BJP Jamshedpur Mahanagar Kisan Morcha protested against the Hemant Soren government over alleged injustice in the paddy procurement process. Farmers submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister through the East Singhbhum District Commissioner on Friday, warning of an agitation if their grievances are ignored.

Farmers’ Demands and Accusations

Led by BJP Kisan Morcha District President Muchiram Bauri, representatives criticized the reduction in the minimum support price (MSP) for paddy. During election campaigns, Chief Minister Hemant Soren had promised an MSP of ₹3200 per quintal. However, the current price has been reduced to ₹2400 per quintal.

In addition, farmers face a deduction of 10 kilograms per quintal under the pretext of moisture content in paddy, which the Morcha termed as exploitation and an insult to farmers’ hard work. “Farmers are the backbone of Jharkhand’s food security and economic stability,” stated Bauri, adding that the government is undermining their rights.

Warning of Statewide Agitation

Bauri issued a clear warning, demanding the immediate restoration of ₹3200 MSP and the halt of unfair deductions. “We will not tolerate the exploitation of farmers. If the government fails to act, BJP workers will take to the streets,” he declared.

Leaders and Participants

The delegation included key BJP leaders such as District General Secretary Deepu Sharma, State Minister Sadanand Mahato, State Social Media In-Charge Vikram Chandrakar, State IT Cell In-Charge Satyendra Prasad, along with Kaju Shandil, Surendra Pandey, Biren Mahato, Rajkumar Singh, and Mandal President Krishna Sharma.

The BJP Kisan Morcha reiterated their resolve to safeguard farmers’ interests, holding the state government accountable for its unfulfilled promises and alleged exploitation.
