Two Arrested for Train Mobile Thefts, 23 Phones Recovered in Palamu

MEDININAGAR – Deori police in Palamu arrested two notorious thieves involved in stealing mobile phones from train passengers. Acting on a tip-off, the police conducted a raid and recovered 23 stolen phones, including 18 Android devices.

The accused, identified as Upendra Kumar Mehta and Ashok Paswan from Deori Khurd village, confessed to several thefts. Upendra was caught at his residence, where police found 18 phones. Based on his information, his accomplice Ashok Paswan was arrested, and five more phones were seized from him.

Hussainabad Police Inspector Suresh Mandal stated that the suspects stole phones from passengers in trains and nearby areas, later selling them at cheap rates for quick profit. FIRs have been registered against Upendra in railway stations at Koderma and Dhanbad, indicating his involvement in multiple cases.

Deori OP in-charge Bablu Kumar led the raid with support from ASI Akhilesh Kumar and several officers. Both accused have been sent to judicial custody in Medininagar. Investigations are ongoing to identify their wider network.
