Jamshedpur Police Arrest Two for Extortion Attempt on Businessman

Police arrested two men for attempting to extort a local businessman, threatening him with abduction and death.

JAMSHEDPUR – Two men who were involved in an extortion attempt against local businessman Banwari Lal Gupta were effectively apprehended by the Jamshedpur police.

Himanshu Tiwari and Yuvraj Kumar, the accused, made repeated demands for money from Gupta and threatened to kidnap and murder him if he refused to pay. Consequently, these arrests were finally made by the city police team.

During a press conference today, the Jamshedpur City Superintendent of Police confirmed the arrests.

He also disclosed that the police had been closely monitoring the situation for some time, as the extortion demands had been ongoing for several days.

The police were able to locate and apprehend the two suspects after conducting an investigation into the matter.

The operation also resulted in the seizure of two mobile phones that were utilised to make the extortion calls.

As investigations persist, both defendants have been remanded to judicial custody.
