The Jharkhand Bangla Bhashi Unnayan Samiti, representing over 100 Bengali organizations, held a press conference.
They alleged a 24-year conspiracy to eliminate Bengali language and culture in the state.
"Since Jharkhand’s formation, our community has faced systematic neglect," a spokesperson stated.
The group claims that 42% of Jharkhand’s population, about 1.3 crore people, are Bengali-speaking.
They have been organizing Bengali speakers from cities to villages for the past two years.
"We’ve united under one banner to assert our rights," a community leader explained.
The Samiti has written to all major political parties in Jharkhand.
They demand tickets for Bengali candidates in Bengali-majority areas.
However, the community leaders express disappointment over the lack of response.
"No political party has taken any meaningful step so far," an organizer lamented.
The Bengali community warns of electoral consequences if their demands are ignored.
