BJP Promises Rs 2,100 Monthly to Women in Jharkhand

Chouhan counters state’s Maiyaan Samman Yojana with higher cash offer

Key Points:

• BJP to offer Rs 2,100 monthly to women if elected in Jharkhand

• Chouhan criticizes Soren’s Maiyaan Samman Yojana as inadequate

• BJP leader engages with tribal communities during two-day visit

RANCHI – Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced a Rs 2,100 monthly payment for women if BJP wins the upcoming Jharkhand Assembly elections.

The announcement aims to counter the state’s Maiyaan Samman Yojana.

Under the current scheme, women receive Rs 1,000 monthly from the Jharkhand government.

Chouhan accused Chief Minister Hemant Soren of copying Madhya Pradesh’s Ladli Behna Yojana.

Moreover, he criticized Soren for failing to fulfill a previous promise.

"Soren promised Rs 2,000 monthly for stove expenses five years ago," Chouhan stated.

The BJP leader claimed this unfulfilled promise would have totaled Rs 1.20 lakh per woman.

However, Soren’s government only recently started distributing Rs 1,000 monthly.

Chouhan labeled this as a last-minute attempt before the elections.

Meanwhile, the BJP has expressed concern over the Maiyaan Samman Yojana’s growing popularity.

The scheme has attracted large gatherings of women at public meetings.

Kalpana Soren has been leading the Maiyaan Samman Yatra across the state.

Furthermore, Chouhan criticized the JMM government for frequent examination paper leaks.

He mockingly referred to JMM as the "Paper Leak Morcha" instead of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha.

The BJP leader promised to fill 2,87,400 vacant posts if his party comes to power.

During his visit, Chouhan engaged deeply with various tribal communities.

He met members of the Baiga, Korba, Birhor, Kisan, and Cheek Baraik tribes.

The minister embraced tribal customs, playing traditional drums and dancing.

He also sampled local cuisine, including Gondli rice and corn ghatta.

Chouhan witnessed traditional tribal songs and dances during his visit.

These performances are typically part of crop sowing and worship rituals.

The BJP’s higher cash offer aims to sway voters in the upcoming elections.
