Hundreds storm Dandai station following suspect’s alleged suicide

Key Points:

• Police forced to use lathi-charge and firing to control the situation

• Several officers and villagers reportedly injured in the clash

• Tension remains high as stone-pelting continues at the station

GARHWA – A police station in Garhwa district faced a violent assault by 100-150 villagers, escalating tensions between law enforcement and the local community.

The incident unfolded at Dandai Police Station following a detainee’s alleged suicide.

Authorities had arrested Bachchu Bhuiyan on charges of knife violence.

However, the suspect reportedly took his own life within the station premises.

Upon learning of Bhuiyan’s death, his family was immediately notified by the police.

Subsequently, hundreds of villagers stormed the police station in a retaliatory attack.

To control the situation, law enforcement initially resorted to lathi-charge.

When this proved ineffective, officers fired shots in self-defense.

Several police personnel sustained injuries during the violent confrontation.

Moreover, reports indicate that numerous villagers were also hurt in the clash.

According to information received, the agitated crowd continued to pelt stones at the police station for some time.

The atmosphere remained tense, with authorities struggling to restore order.

This incident highlights the fragile relationship between law enforcement and local communities.

It also raises questions about the safety and supervision of detainees in police custody.

Local officials are likely to face scrutiny over the circumstances leading to Bhuiyan’s death.

Local sources said that the situation calls for immediate de-escalation efforts to prevent further violence.
