Seraikela EVM and VVPAT First-Level Checking for 2024 Elections Reviewed

JAMSHEDPUR – As part of the preparations for the 2024 Assembly elections, District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner Ravi Shankar Shukla conducted an inspection of the first-level checking (FLC) of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trails (VVPATs) stored at the community building in Seraikela.
During the inspection, he was accompanied by Trainee IAS Officer Kumar Rajat, deputed magistrates, and other officials.
The Deputy Commissioner reviewed the progress of the ongoing FLC operations and received updates from the district’s Deputy Election Officer.
He expressed satisfaction with the strict adherence to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) issued by the Election Commission of India (ECI).
Shukla directed officials to ensure that all activities comply with the ECI’s SOPs and reviewed the security arrangements, including the presence of CCTV cameras, fire safety measures, and medical assistance teams.
The Deputy Commissioner also provided necessary instructions to the engineers, deputed officers, and FLC supervisors involved in the process, urging them to carry out their duties diligently.
It was noted that the FLC work is being carried out by engineers from ECIL, as deputed by the commission, with representatives from recognized political parties present during the process.
