JAMSHEDPUR – A trainee pilot and his instructor have gone missing after their aircraft lost contact during a routine training flight from Sonari Airport on Tuesday.
Shubhrodeep Dutta, a young pilot-in-training from Adityapur Ichhapur Basti, was aboard a Cessna 2 aircraft with his instructor, Captain Jeet Sataru from Patna.
The plane’s communication with the control tower ceased at 11 am on August 20, leaving no clues about its whereabouts.
The Dutta family, residing in Vijay Kunj Flats of Ichhapur Basti, is grappling with overwhelming anxiety and uncertainty.
Pradeep Dutta, Shubhrodeep’s father who works in catering, and his wife have been keeping vigil at Sonari Airport, desperately awaiting news.
The family’s search efforts extended to Chandil dam on Wednesday, but yielded no results.
Shubhrodeep’s mother is reportedly overcome with grief, while his father clings to hope amidst growing despair.
Alchemist Aviation, the company operating the training flight, has been unable to provide any substantial information about the missing aircraft.
A representative from the company expressed that their investigation is ongoing and that they’re employing all available resources to locate the plane.
