Family alleges medical negligence after 15-year-old dies post-discharge

Tensions rose at Dr. Abhishek Child Care Hospital following the death of a teenage patient.

JAMSHEDPUR – A 15-year-old boy’s death at Dr. Abhishek Child Care Hospital in Baradwari, Sakchi area, sparked protests from family members alleging medical negligence.

The child, D. Shahil from Golmuri Vijaynagar, was admitted on August 15 with fever complaints.

Hospital staff discharged the boy on Sunday, declaring him healthy.

The patient’s condition deteriorated again on Monday, leading to his demise upon readmission.

Family members, led by father D. Karunakaran, accused doctors of negligence and improper treatment.

Protesters created a disturbance at the hospital, prompting police intervention from Sakchi station.

Law enforcement officials managed to calm the situation after arriving on the scene.

Hospital management has declined to comment on the incident and allegations.

The child’s father stated that his son’s condition worsened immediately after returning home.

Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the young patient’s death.

Hospital staff reportedly went into hiding following the outbreak of protests.

The incident has raised questions about patient care and discharge protocols at the facility.

Local authorities are expected to conduct a thorough inquiry into the medical care provided.
