Jharkhand CM Unveils Plans for Major Tribal Culture Policy in 2025

Hemant Soren announces initiative during ‘Adivasi Mahotsav-2024’ closing ceremony

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren plans to introduce a significant policy in 2025 aimed at promoting artists and preserving tribal culture.

RANCHI – Chief Minister Hemant Soren announced plans for a major policy in 2025 to support artists and preserve tribal culture during the ‘Adivasi Mahotsav-2024’ closing ceremony.

The announcement coincided with Soren’s 49th birthday, adding a personal touch to the event.

The two-day festival, held at the Bhagwan Birsa Munda Memorial Park-cum-Museum in Jail Chowk, celebrated the rich art, culture, and traditions of the tribal community.

Soren emphasized that sports and culture are core priorities for his government.

Recent initiatives include constructing stadiums, developing playgrounds at the panchayat level, and organizing local competitions.

The Chief Minister highlighted the awards and financial assistance provided to athletes.

Addressing economic concerns of artists dedicated to preserving culture, Soren promised that the new policy would ensure they can showcase their art and heritage with dignity.

He acknowledged limited tribal representation in fields like trade, judiciary, civil services, medicine, and engineering but noted gradual progress.

The festival featured performances by tribal artists from various states, including Mizoram, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tripura, and Chhattisgarh.

Notable figures such as MLA Kalpana Soren and Rajya Sabha MP Mahua Maji attended the event.

Soren expressed the challenge of safekeeping culture in a materialistic age and stressed the need to overcome it while advancing cultural preservation.

"We must find a way to preserve our rich tribal heritage while progressing in this modern world," Soren stated during his address.

It’s worth noting that the tenure of Soren’s government will expire this year, and the fulfillment of this new promise depends on his re-election.
