Plans made to improve facilities at popular religious sites and form local management committees.

SERAIKELA – The District Tourism Promotion Council of Saraikela-Kharsawan met on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Deputy Development Commissioner Prabhat Kumar Bardiyar.

The meeting reviewed progress on renovations at various tourist sites and stressed timely completion with quality work.

District Sports Officer Amit Kumar reported that 10 out of 25 proposed sites have been notified under ‘D’ category by the tourism department.

"We’ve decided to send the list of remaining sites to the department again for development," said a committee member.

The council agreed to prioritize beautification, sanitation, and infrastructure improvements at popular religious sites.

Bardiyar instructed the formation of Tourism Management Committees through Gram Sabhas for A, B, and C category sites.

Key attendees included trainee IAS Kumar Rajat, district land acquisition officer, and local representatives.

This meeting highlights the district’s efforts to boost tourism infrastructure and local participation in site management.

The focus on religious sites indicates a strategy to capitalize on existing pilgrimage traffic.

The categorization of attractions may help in targeted development and resource allocation for tourism growth.
