DALTONGANJ – In a major success, Palamu Police arrested Sita Ram Rajwar, a most-wanted Naxalite with a ₹10 lakh bounty, from the Hussainabad area during an anti-Naxal operation.
Rajwar, also known as Raman Ji, has numerous cases registered against him in both Jharkhand and Bihar, where he is wanted in over 48 Naxal-related incidents.
He has been involved in multiple attacks, resulting in the deaths of more than 25 security personnel.
The Jharkhand government had placed a ₹10 lakh bounty on him, while the Bihar government announced a ₹3 lakh reward for his capture.
Originally from Haidarnagar in Palamu, Rajwar has been associated with the Maoist organization for over 40 years and was previously imprisoned in 2001.
He worked under the command of Nitesh, a notorious Naxal leader.
Rajwar’s criminal record includes his involvement in various heinous crimes:
– In 2001, he was part of the police murder and arms loot.
– In 2009, he participated in the IED blast targeting a polling party during the Assembly elections in Mohammadganj.
– In 2016, he was involved in the explosion of a police vehicle at Kala Pahar.
– In 2017, he was responsible for the killing of 16 TPC members in Kaudia village, Vishrampur.
– In 2023, he was involved in setting fire to road construction equipment in Chhatarpur and demanding extortion from an Airtel tower manager in Lohbandha.
– In 2024, he led a campaign to boycott the Lok Sabha elections and was involved in arson at road construction sites in Haidarnagar.
Palamu SP Rishma Ramesan described Rajwar’s arrest as a significant achievement for the police, considering his extensive criminal activities.
The police are now investigating his involvement in other crimes and assessing the impact of his arrest on Naxal operations in the region.
