SERAIKELA – A speeding car caused a major accident late Thursday night near Sher-e-Punjab Chowk in Adityapur, Seraikela-Kharsawan district. The car struck a pedestrian crossing the road and then collided with a parked Maruti Ignis car, overturning it.
The injured pedestrian, identified as Vikas Mahto, a resident near the railway gate who works at a shop in Sharma Market, suffered a broken leg and serious injuries. He was rushed to the hospital by Adityapur police using a PCR van. The offending vehicle fled the scene immediately after the accident.
Damage and Response
The impact of the collision caused the parked Maruti Ignis to overturn, which was later righted using a crane. The accident scene quickly attracted a crowd, which police dispersed upon arrival.
