UPSC Aspirant Dies by Suicide in Jamshedpur’s Parsudih Area

Woman allegedly consumed pesticide after failing UPSC attempt; husband works at Tata Steel UISL

A 28-year-old woman in Jamshedpur died by suicide after consuming pesticide, reportedly stressed over UPSC exam preparation.

JAMSHEDPUR – A woman preparing for UPSC exams died by suicide in Jamshedpur’s Parsudih area, consuming pesticide due to exam-related stress.

The deceased, identified as Sharmila Majhi (28), was a resident of Bees Tola in Parsudih.

She was rushed to Sadar Hospital on Sunday evening after being found unconscious at home.

Majhi was later referred to MGM Hospital, where she succumbed during treatment on Monday.

The victim’s husband, Aman Bodra, works in post control at Tata Steel UISL (formerly JUSCO).

The couple had married in a love match ten years ago and have a four-year-old daughter.

Bodra revealed that his wife had been preparing for the UPSC exam through YouTube tutorials.

She had reportedly been under stress after failing in her first attempt at the competitive exam.

"The exact reason for the suicide is yet to be determined," Bodra stated.

Police were informed on Tuesday morning and will conduct a post-mortem examination before handing over the body to the family.

The incident has shed light on the immense pressure faced by UPSC aspirants in the region.
