Jamshedpur Launches Comprehensive Anti-Drug Initiative

Officials Target Smuggling Routes, Boost Awareness in Schools

Jamshedpur authorities unveil multi-faceted approach to combat narcotics, focusing on intelligence gathering, public awareness, and rehabilitation efforts for addicts.

JAMSHEDPUR – A comprehensive campaign to reduce drug-related activities has been launched by local officials, with a focus on community engagement and intelligence gathering.

The Narcotics Coordination Committee (NCORD) organized a critical meeting to confront the district’s growing drug issue.

The session was presided over by District Magistrate Ananya Mittal, and major health and law enforcement officials were in attendance.

The committee delineated strategies to address drug production, processing, and smuggling in accordance with the NDPS Act.

A senior police official declared, "Our primary objective is to establish a society that is free of drugs." "We’re implementing a multi-pronged approach to tackle this menace."

In order to effectively monitor drug-related activities, authorities intend to implement a local information system.

The initiative involves the intensification of intelligence gathering along interstate and inter-district contraband routes.

The significance of awareness campaigns in educational institutions to prevent the involvement of youth in substance abuse was underscored by officials.

The committee conducted routine inspections in high-risk areas, including slums, bus stands, and railway stations.

Plans are currently being implemented to improve the accessibility of the drug control helpline and offer counseling services to addicts and their families.
