Bhartiya Jan Morcha demonstrates against emergency

Jamshedpur: Saryu Roy, the MLA of Jamshedpur East, today led a group of Bhartiya Jan Morcha workers and supporters to demonstrate against imposition of emergency in 1975 and observed the day as ‘Resistance Day’ on the 45th anniversary of emergency imposed by Indira Gandhi-led government.

Mr. Saryu Roy said that the national level resistance movement launched by Jai Prakash Narayan was a watershed moment for the history of the nation.

He said that the movement has defined the future course for the country. He said that the movement launched by Jai Prakash Narayan ultimately led to the fall of the then Indira Gandhi government. It was a movement that ensured that no other future government would ever think of imposing emergency in the country.

The BJM supporters also shouted slogans on the occasion hailing the resistance movement and against the decision of the then government to impose emergency in the country.
