JAMSHEDPUR – Sona Devi University marked World Youth Skills Day 2024 with a comprehensive program emphasizing the crucial role of skill education in fostering peace and development among youth.

The event, attended by university leadership, faculty, and students, showcased the institution’s commitment to nurturing skilled and socially conscious graduates.

"Skilled artisans never remain idle and can create employment opportunities for others," stated Dr. Neelmani Kumar, highlighting the event’s core message.

Keynote Address and Thematic Focus

Registrar Prof. Dr. Gulab Singh "Azad" delivered a compelling keynote speech:

1. Peace-Development Nexus: "Peace and development are inseparable," Prof. Azad emphasized, contextualizing the theme within global challenges.

2. Educational Imperative: He stressed the need for "value-based quality technical education" to address societal issues.

3. Skill Cultivation: The registrar urged continuous skill development as a pathway to national and international peace.

Student Engagement

University students played a central role in the proceedings:

– Rakhi Mahato and Monali Mohanta performed the opening Saraswati Vandana.

– Kashish Lala and Reema Manki delivered lectures on this year’s theme, inspiring peer engagement.

"This event reinforces our commitment to holistic education," remarked Dr. Ratna Mukherjee, director of the program. "We aim to equip our students not just with academic knowledge, but with skills that contribute to global peace and development."
