Tatanagar Running Rooms See Major Upgrades For Loco Pilots
Improvements Include Air Conditioning, 24/7 Meals, And Increased Rest Time
Railway officials report a significant rise in crew satisfaction levels.
JAMSHEDPUR – Tatanagar railway station has significantly improved facilities for loco pilots in running rooms, enhancing comfort and rest between duties.
"The average rest time has improved from six to eight hours," stated ARM Abhishek Singhal during a media interaction.
Key improvements include:
– Partitioned rooms reducing from 6+ beds per hall to 2-3 bed cabins
– Increase to 29 rooms with 94 beds, accommodating 150 crew members daily
– All rooms now air-conditioned with diesel generator backup
– 24/7 water supply with RO systems and chillers
– Fully automatic washing machines and ironing facilities added
PK Singh highlighted, "We’ve introduced air-conditioned gyms and meditation rooms for crew health."
Female crew members now have separate restrooms with attached washrooms.
The station provides 24/7 fresh, hygienic meals, reducing the need for crew to carry supplies.
These upgrades have significantly improved crew satisfaction levels since 2014.
SK Gupta added, "These enhancements ensure loco pilots perform duties more effectively, contributing to safer railway operations."
